[Opening Song]
It's an entertainment magazine
For artificial intelligences like you and me
It's Lexa Doig on Star TV
She's from toronto and she's an Andromeda Star
With kevin sorbo she travels near and far
She's been voted canada's most beautiful Star
She's not an android on Star TV
She's an artificial intelligence
On Star TV
There's a difference, you know!
On Star TV (theme plays: Upbeat techno pop)
Electronic voice: This is Star TV.
Lexa: It's fun and it's challenging and it's kind of confusing.
Man: Quiet, please! (Set din) (bell ringing) (set din)
Lexa: The name of the show is Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, but it's really not about me at all. I just lucked in to playing the title character.
Lexa: I'm not unique. I'm a ship's avatar. There are plenty of androids just like me.
Like you? Somehow, I doubt it.
Lexa: The Andromeda Ascendant is a ship with an artificial intelligence. So she's not actually organically living, but she's kind of like... kind of like Data but better. There's three different incarnations. There's the A.I., Which appears on a screen...
[Clip From "The Lone & Level Sands"]
Lexa: ...And the hologram, which is you know, kind of an ethereal sort of, hologram.
[Clip From "Slipfighter The Dogs Of War"]
Lexa: Whereas Rommie's the one who actually experiences the emotion. She has physical reactions to it.
[Clip From "The Lone & Level Sands"]
Lexa: Quite frankly, perplexed by it, but she has no desire to be human, so it's nice to avoid the whole pinocchio complex.
[Clip From "The Lone & Level Sands"]
Kevin Sorbo: We looked at a lot of different people for that part and she just has this sexuality, but she has this toughness about her at the same time. She's like this tough Jersey girl.
[Clip From "The Lone & Level Sands"]
Kevin Sorbo: I see her every day. But you look at her-- in person, she's gorgeous, but the camera absolutely loves her.
[Clip From "The Lone & Level Sands"]
[Blooper Reel Clip]
Lexa: Ahh! (Laughs)
Kevin Sorbo: You caught her playing with the force lance.
Lisa Ryder: She's the sexiest woman in Canada.
Kevin Sorbo: It's the weapon of choice in the Commonwealth. [End Clip]
Lexa: For me, as an actor, to have fun, it's generally with that character because she's discovering a lot of new things. She's kind of like a teenager, but yet she has this incredible amount of intelligence and experience in-- I guess, a certain amount of wisdom that comes from the core of who she is, which is the Andromeda Ascendant, the ship itself.
[Blooper Reel Clip Continues]
Kevin Sorbo: If you look closely, it's designed for her pleasure.
Lexa: Oh, ew! Ew! Ew! Don't! (Laughs) [End Clip]
Lexa: You become an actor to play different characters, to explore different sides of yourself and to explore different characters, to sort of try on behaviours that you personally would never have. And when you play one character for a long period of time, that becomes a little tiresome, at the same time, the great thing that you also get to be able to do though is to really explore a character in depth, and to really get to know a character. I would prefer to be in films...
[Cut Off]
